UGI is serving as fiscal sponsor for a new initiative in the Brentwood-Darlington and Woodstock neighborhoods of southeast Portland to map, eradicate, and raise public awareness of invasive Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima).
Brentstock Incubators' Project Remove partners with neighbors to replace invasive Tree of Heaven with native and suitable cultivar trees to expand the urban forest canopy, working in both street right-of-ways and private yards. This group is leading community-based green infrastructure efforts in this corner of Portland where there is a high concentration of unimproved right-of-ways in close proximity to Johnson Creek.
